I'm in need of some help for my xp build on my 02 gtp. I got a little ahead of myself and didn't line up the timing marks and car is horribly off time. How would I time it?

stop running it before you smash a valve into a piston for one.

now take it apart again and set your timing chain up right. if your lucky the engine not dead already.

The 3800 is a non interference motor, he's not going to damage it that way.

But you are going to have to redo everything, the timing marks must be lined up correctly or this motor isn't going to run. Why would you throw it back together if you knew you didn't get it right?

It's easy to forget until it's too late. Which is why people should read read read before they do stuff

Simple answer - start over again from the beginning

Sorry, the 3800 is an interference motor.

You probably bent some valves. Pull the front cover off and retime it. You are most likely going to be replacing valves though.

You're from Lincoln, huh?

We are only a hour apart.

You can hook up a compressor and check to see if the valves are sealing. If they don't seal while turning the motor over by hand, you are going to be pulling the heads.

Ya I'm from lincoln but the car is in kearney as I do not have a garage. It was a dumb moment of mine. I'll be down again on the weekend to work on it again
