WS6 Hood for GP who's got em? Show some pics!

rynoman03

I AM PEWPIN!
I have been offered a WS6 hood for a good price. The wife has told me no but my Birthday is coming up in March.

The questions I have are as follows.

1.) How many of you guys / and gals have used the stock hood latch and was modification required. Have any of you used hood pins instead?

2.) Can you please show me a pic of the hood painted and installed.

3.) What did it cost you to have it prepped and painted.

I have told the gentleman that I probably can't swing it at this time because of bills that need paid off. But... The price is just too good and I might have to change my mind depending on how you guys / gals answer my questions. Another thing that really makes me want it is that I have already test fitted this hood on my car and I have pictures to look at with it unpainted. Damn it sucks to be poor!

Thanks in advance. :th_jester:

Go out and hit a deer!!! free bodywork! lol jk

Goindef can make the ws6 hood for around 550 unshipped, I think, but depending on where your ws6 hood came from or what brand it is, nobody will be able to tell you what to do for sure. Post up some pics of the hood and any pics that you have of the test fit.

Those hoods are rare, many people don't like them, but any upgrade over stock hood is well worth it. I began to appreciate and love my F1 after it was put on the car.

Here's some pics to give you all an idea of what i'm talking about.

If you have test fitted the hood and you are happy w/ it I say go for it. There is a black GT here in NJ that I see around that has the WS6 installed and it looks bad ass. I say if the price is right and it makes you happy..do it

Same here. If you like the way it looks and can afford it, I'd say go for it. I love the WS6 hoods. I like the aggressive look. Just be prepared for the ones that don't like it. It's all going to be about personal preference. I think it really looks good on your car.

I like the f1's and the sd's too but this one is extremely well priced. If the guy still has it when my birthday rolls around i think i will go for it.

But that's the thing, that's your opinion. If he likes it he should get it. The only difference in the two hoods is the WS6 is a little taller.

Understandable. I feel the same about the F1. If your going for the GP with just a touch of apperance, the F1 is a great choice. But, if you want a full blown out agressive look with other stuff to go along with it, then I would say the WS6. To me, both hoods look awsome, it just comes down to what someone wants.

i say if you want your grand prix to look like 98% of every single other grand prix than go with the F1, it you want to stand out and have a bad ass ride that is the other 2% of grand prix's then go with the WS6 hood.

I really like the way the hood looks on my car and the aggressiveness that it has. If i don't purchase it I probably won't but another hood. This one just came along and is very tempting. Plus I'm still trying to convince the wife that this is one hell of a deal. If you don't like it that's wonderful please keep those comments to yourself.

On another note has anyone got a picture of this hood painted and installed? Any gripes or problems with it during or after installing it?

I prefer go over show! Sorry but I couldn't put a ws6 hood on my car until I ran 12's outta respect for the T/A... lol. Its that sleeper look!

topic:

Hoods are not in abundant supply or cheap for grand prixs. I suggest if you happen to find one that fits and is relatively cheap, its a good buy.

If you want go over show, why spend the money on a non functional ram air hood? Not saying yours in perticular, but their are alot out their that have just the hood and not the ram air hook up. I guess this will be another one of those topics that will alsways have it's good and bad. The one thing I do like about the WS6's hight, is if someones capable, vents can be added to the back of it that can help extract heat from the engine bay. Not sure on the F1 because I haven't seen a rear view of it. Not saying one's better than the other, but like said time and time again, it's all in what you want. Everyones opinion would differ. That's what makes this forum so great. We can discuss things like this and find out the likes and dislikes of different products.
