Wrong Computer?

First of all, im gonna shoot this damn GP, it dies out on me randomly, I took it to the shop a week ago, they kept it for 6 days, replaced the map, cts, and a few other things. It runs a lot better but it still shuts off on me randomly, they told me that I have the wrong computer in my car, the one in there is not set up for the keyless entry/security, but i have and use it all the time, then they told me thats why it shuts down is the security and to stop using my keyless entry, i have called a few other places and they said "bring it in for diagnostics" unfortunately im flat on my a$$ after the other place keeping it for a week, so i guess my question is, has anyone else heard of this? is it possible that i do have the wrong computer?

Get the service number off of your PCM, if you still have the stock airbox its in the bottom of it. Once you have the service number.. you can see if it's the right number for the year of your car.

OK.. got the service number, and at the risk of sounding dumb, where do i go from there to find out if i have the right computer?

well... from everything ive seen i have the right computer in the car, does anyone know if there were possibly 2 diff computers? like i said the guys at the shop said the one i have doesnt work with my security stuff... or am i barking up the wrong tree? should i be lookin at the security system itself?

A factory security system won't make the car shut off. If you have something high-end and aftermarket that can immobilize the engine and it's installed wrong I guess that could do it, but not a factory system. Sounds like they just want money, shops will charge you a couple grand to replace the computer even though it's a $100 part used and it's about a 10 second swap.

its all stock on this car right now, so there is no "fuel shut off" for the security system?

Nope. Not on the factory system as far as I know. I can't think of anything mechanical that would cause this problem though, there's gotta be some kinda crazy electrical issue somewhere...
