Wont Shift out of First Gear

Hey guys,

I got a question that hopefully will spark some ideas/solutions on what may be wrong and what I can try to fix on my car.

Just today i was driving my car home from work and all of a sudden my car would not shift out of first gear, it will rev up, but not shift at all. It drives fine in first and seems to shift smooth into N and R.

Any idea's or thought would be great

Hmmmm

The shifting is largely effected by the tps, maf and map sensors. You can run fine and have a bad map. Worth checking out. Beyond that, it likely isn't an internal issue from what I've experienced. A forward band would have taken out all forward movement unless you put it in manual 1 or 2.
 
Thanks for the info, the engine light comes on but is showing up a different code that does not relate to the transmission. Would the map sensor show up on the computer? and where abouts is it located on the car?
