Won't shift or start

Something messed up when I shifted through reverse and into park today. The shifter is stuck either in reverse or in park. My gauge cluster now says revers & the shifter says park. I can't turn the car back on unless I jam the shifter as far forward as possible. Even when the car does turn on it wont shift at all. I will roll when off & when turned on.

I've read it could be low tranny fluid, bad transmission, loose shifter cable. Aside from checking fluids I'm really not sure what to do here . . .

Sounds like something messed up with the shifter cable or the prndl switch on the tranny.

Ok I pressed the shift lock release button to see if I could shift & start the car. Car now shifts 1st through Drive. No NRP, so no start either. IDK whats wrong.

I'm guessing that I need to replace the switch on top of the tranny.

I really hope its not the shift solenoid
