i want to keep a factory radio in cause it looks cleaner and i dont want ppl to think that there is anything in the car till i turn it up

any advice on a way to do this i was looking in to getting i think its called a line out converter anyone know about these

also i want 10s in the back and ive read that some ppl say to take out the 6x9s in the back and just leave in the rear deck 4in

i always had huge speakers with very oud bass in my old blazer but now i want something clean loud and clear and also kind of hidden

Im going to start with this. search because this has been answered many many times.

I'll answer your question as best as I can tho.

you are not going to get very good sound quality using a line level converter. they do work but they don't sound great. not compared to running rca cables back and doing it the right way. another thought that someone else is going to have to chime in with an answer on is that some amps come with line level converters built in that look like they are of a much higher quality. so that might be a better wrought for you to go. I was originally going to go and do the same thing that you are wanting to do but I decided to just put the deck that I had into my car from my truck and im very happy that I did it.

hey thanks for the info i wasnt really sure and sry i didnt search it ive looked around the site tring to find something like this but most ppl dont mention the line converters would onlinecarstereo offer any insite on a amp with built in line converter thingy

I have a LOC for my 2500 hcca mono amp powering my 15" L7. I think it sounds good enough for me. Now when matt awakes this morning I am sure he will chime in.

Wrong section.

So you just want loud bass and no highs? Because thats how your car will be if you don't get creative and start putting in a decently large subwoofer.

Responses in red peoples.

You will forever have no control over your sound system then as well as no high pass filter for your midwoofers which will cause them to distort and sound terrible.

Yes that works. Take the wires for the rear 6x9's connect those to the LOC and the RCA's to your amp. But consider most entry level amps have built in LOC's.

Sure, how much do you want to spend? And just so you know, the smaller the driver, the less sound it makes with a certain amount of power.... In other words, set a budget, then get the biggest sub that you can find as well as the most powerful amp for your budget. Maximizing efficiency maximizes your dollar.

If they’re in your trunk, they’re very hidden…. If you want REALLY hidden then do a fourth order bandpass box vented directly into the cabin.

Whats the search?

Using LOC’s leaves you with no control which is the point in getting an aftermarket deck, control.

Line out conveter will do you fine

*waits for tha masses to tell to not be cheap & just buy a deck*

control

Because you have no control and aftermarket decks let you use USB audio devices that hold many more songs than a CD can. Yet they sound worse…. :)

It’s a sub, that’s in the trunk. No one could probably hear the difference.

locs are fine for bass cause its not clear anyways then just replace the stock speakers with high quality stuff and itll be decent. but to do it right you need a good deck as its the heart of the system

umm thanks matt theres lots of info there for sure

i was looking around and fouhnd www.humount.com and it really made getting a din 1 stereo alot easier for me

i hate how most mounting hardware looks cheep and pokes out.

sry if i posted in the wrong area BIO

anyway guys if anyone else has info it will help

i dont really want super loud bass lookin for something in the 1500 dollor price range for everything

what is a fourth order bandpass box cause hidden is always better

super duper loud! i got like 500-600 into my gt's and thats a head unit, subs, all new interior speakers and two amps... 600w x 4channel and 1200w for subs and a custom ported box and the pac-swi for steering wheel controls... super loud and clear!!!

good as can be expected....lol i did angle the door speakers up a little by mounting them in the actual door panel itself

in my blazer i had 1 audiobouhn 12 two kicker 10 a dual HU and a 1200 watt amp and a 450 watt mtx amp

i want something thats going to be well not really hidden but sounds good woth out to much mods like the kicker speakers that block the ebrake on th edriver side

and also all my speakers before were hand me down well i handed em off when i deployed so now i need brand new stuff and want to get good quality stuff

with the HU anyone have problems with flip up or down ones?

im lookin at cerwin vagas in the back
Cerwin Vega V-Max124 Subwoofers - Car Subwoofers at Onlinecarstereo.com

thats about it for now

im not sure what type of box to build

i had a flip out dvd in my gt for a few weeks til i got robbed at gunpoint because of it and he ripped the screen off while trying to steal it and keep the gun pointed at me with the other hand...lol only complaint was it blocked the vent flow cause it flipped up so high. i got motorized flip faces in both now and love'em the way you can have it angle the face out at a slant makes it easier to see imo and ill go take a pic of my box in a few to give ya an idea...

keep in mind that was my first atempt at carpet, and that its about 4 years old and been abused. but i wanted to leave the passthrough open to still be able to haul random ass stuff like exhaust pipe and all that. its a ported box and the tube ports face inside the opening in the center, i tuned the box for like 35hz or something and it sounds nice

Im not sure what that box is but if you do get a humount you will love it. Id highly recommend it anyhow I love the way that mine turned out and honestly I think it helps it look a little more "stock" when it is as clean of an install as it is. I'll post some pics of how mine turned out. also I highly recommend the pac steering wheel control adapter. I did the one that does inferred and it was the easiest install Ive ever done.

Kjohnson im really really happry you posted the pics cause the website didnt really give a good pic or the lit up HU with a unit in it. and man does it look good

im so glad i found a car that i can invest (i think thats the best way to say sink stupid amounts of money in to it) alot into and it look really really nice my last car not so much. the sucky thing is that i havent even got to drive it yet but although any sane person would go iwith a 5 dollor HU mount im glad for that lil bit of extra for the money
