will a purge solenoid make your car run like crap

i have a 99 gtp i was driving it when it just died i got it started but it wouldnt run very good at all like it was flooding it self out i could smell gas really bad i plugged a code reader in it and it gave me a code evap emission control system vent V1v/sol malfuntion autozone told me that it was the purge solenoid would it cause it to run like crap it runs fine until it warms up thats when it all starts
 


Don't think so I have the code for awhile now ( like over a year ) and just got around to changing it. and I have never had that problem for over 20,000 miles I was just lazy

Valve fails in the open position, Crappy Idle, Crappy Drivability. If its stuck in the closed position it doesn have much effect.
 


I have no power to my evap solenoid it should have 12v at key on or running any help with that would be great thanks jim
