wierd exhaust rattle around 2300-2500 rpm

when i had my stock exhaust i could not rev the car in nuetral or parked because the car would just sound like someone was throwing rocks at sheet metal. so i a stainless steel exhaust system put on with 2 flow master 50 series and resignator delete to a mid pipe. now i can somewhat rev the car without hearing the noise it sounds real deep and mean until i get to about 2300 rpm to 2500 rpm it gives me a loud "fartcan" ish noise but as soon as i pass 2500 rpm its gone. im just a little confused its not the cat converter because it doesnt do it while idoling or any other rpm and it doesnt have a bad smell. so any ideas what it could be? possibly the heat sheild
 


I'm inclined to think it's a W body. Pretty normal to sound bad. Especially when you are constantly revving them and trying to blow the motor.
 
Glad I found this thread Bill. My GT also is making this noise but at idle. It comes and goes away.. Sounds like its in the mufflers, also when taking off I can hear it until about 2500 rpm. What could it be? It's damn annoying.!

My Bonneville did the same thing also at about 145k miles. It had dual outlet mufflers.
