whys everbody hating on ZZP's PCM?

I have to agree. I've tuned several cars, even on different dynos and a common problem that has popped up is these cars always seem to run richer on the dyno than they do on the street. I've seen it so bad where we've tuned an engine to run a rock solid 11.5:1 AFR on the dyno and then took it right out on the street minutes later and watched the AFR jump to 12.5:1!

Why? Well there always seems to be bad air in the dyno. I don't care how many fans they put in front of your car - unless they have a wind-tunnel set up, you can't duplicate the amount of clean/cool air your car will see while driving down the street in a dyno cell.

Which probably makes the best/safest (and most legal) place to do a WOT "street" tune on the dragstrip.

I have not blown my engine yet with the ZZP PCM?
I don't think I know anything about car tuning, so I can't say it's great.
I think it works better than the stock one on my car.

Only been to the dyno once.

Afr was the same as street.

This particular dyno is located right behind the bay door so the fresh air is being pulled from outside and blown into the car.
 
Obviously, no two dynos are alike. The one you say your car was run on might have been one of the better ones I've heard of. But, despite this, it is ALWAYS good practice to double-check your WOT AFR's once you leave the dyno tuning session to make sure your engine is getting what it needs once you get it out on the street or wherever you are going to primarily use it. Better to be safe than sorry.

I'm super totally new here, so that's exciting.

I don't really know how to tune a car, but I got HP Tuners.
Plugged it in... digging around... changed a few minors thing the way I like it...
If that's what you mean by scan...

Absolutely true ! Hehehe.

Well, I did run it for like a week before I messed with it.
Not bad. And like I said, I could "feel" the different compare to the stock one (no dyno stock vs zzp to compare).
One thing I noticed right away is they make all fans run ALL the time LOL. I think it's a waste...

I've aquired tunes from just about every major company over the years, and have them saved on my laptop. They are all very similar, and they all work very well for stock, or lightly modded cars. They all run rich as hell. They all advance timing. They have all been on a car when the motor or transmission have failed.

To say that one is better than the other, is like saying that apples are better than oranges.
