Who has bypassed AC Compressor and how?

Alright so my AC compressor seems to be on the fritz. Probably has been for a while. Since August of 2010 when I bought the car the AC has never worked. Id leave it as is but I believe that it could sieze and shred a belt. Im not looking to fix it as Ive gotten used to driving without it. That being said, how many of you have "shaved" (removed) the compressor and how did you go about doing it. I saw that dorman makes a bypass pulley that would replace the compressor i believe. Anyone tried that? It costs 45 and I dont really want to pay for that. Anyone have other suggestions for something else I could do? I just wish this car had a seperate belt for the AC like my old wagon did! lol
 


I dont think I can on my 2000 GT. It seems like the compressor holds the belt out around the other pulleys if you know what I mean. Ill double check to make sure but thats what I wanted to do until I glanced at it last night.
 
Pretty sure you can bypass it w/ just a shorter belt. I would just spend the $45 on the bypass pulley and call it a day.
 
I can double check but I was pretty sure without the AC compressor it would be belt on belt. Ill probably just have to get the bypass pulley.

Well got the old pump out and installed the bypass pulley in under an hour. Not bad for not really knowing how/ what I was doing. lol. Also found out that it was rust buildup on the clutch that would rub causing a grinding noise. Guess it wasn't really an urgent fix but its done.
