white smoke from tail pipe

so the regal died today lots of white smoke right away no go got the car towed ordered head gasket set from rock auto started removing wires etc to do head gaskets then I noticed that the throttle body gasket was kind of torn on the top where the water jacket is it looks like the coolant went strait into the intake any thoughts? ill try and replace the throttle body gasket and replace everything i removed hours for nothing but ill try it hopefully that's what the problem is and not the head gaskets

usually the lim/lower intake manifold gaskets not the headgaskets on these cars get the new style metal ones work much better on my 07 they still have never failed from the factory
do those while your at it just in case.

so upon removeing a lot of stuff to prepare for the head gasket changeout i noticed the the throttle body gasket was damaged on the top side of the coolant passage (i had removed the motor not to long ago and replaced all gaskets and seals timing chain switched to 1.9 rockers etc etc) the throttle body bolts the two bottom ones were not tight when i installed the throttle body spacer the bolts were torqued to spec anyway im hoping that this is the problem and not the head gaskets!

its possible you were getting a coolant injection there.

id try a pressure test of the cooling system. if it drops you'll find the leak for sure.

so i changed the throttle body gasket changed oil ran car for half hour changed oil again to ensure that there's no antifreeze in system problem solved the first time i installed the throttle body spacer it was torqued to spec 89 inch pounds same this time but i put Loctite on the bolts (when i was taking it apart i noticed that they were not tight) probably caused the problem
