Whine from rear of 2000 gtp?

Theres a noticeable whine from the rear of my 2000 gtp. (more drivers side back by axle) Any ideas what it may be?

Whine at idle sounds like a loud fuel pump?

Am I correct to assume by "idle" you mean when the vehicle is stopped?
 
yes, as in park. A friend said he thought it was a fuel pump as well so that's probably what it is.

I probably won't worry about it unless its hurting performance?

Not driving backwards.
 


Some guys will tell you GM did that on purpose so we knew it was still there. Personally a loud pump gets swapped out in my cars.
 
mine is the same way. i can hear the whine from it clear as day, pretty much anywhere behind the front fenders. lol doesnt bother me

yup, alright I probably won't do anything about it. It goes away after a little bit of driving.
