Which replacement camshaft do you like?

I'm looking to put a camshaft in a L26 to put in my son's 1980 Triumph TR7. We bought a donor 1998 Camaro with the L36 and 5 speed. That L36 had blown head gaskets and 220K on it, so I picked up a 65K L26 out of a 2009 Lacrosse. We are going to put the upper and lower intake and the oil pan from the Camaro onto the L26 from the Lacrosse. My son really wants to put a camshaft in it. He was looking at the ZZP GT1, I was looking at the Intense racing stage 1X. Who out there has used these or other cams they like?

I don't want a real radical camshaft, but like a little lope sound and more power. I understand we need to replace the valve springs and retainers and it is recommended to replace the timing chain with a double roller chain. Any other improvements you would recommend while we are there?

A double roller timing chain is overkill on a GT1 or GT2 camshaft if you ask me.

Those are kinda nothing compared to the rather aggressive NIC and XPZ camshafts that are on the market.

We have no plans to supercharge it.

I thought the double roller timing chain was overkill, but it won't hurt.

I forgot to say with the current gearing and tire size on this car the engine will be spinning 3,000 RPMs going 70 MPH, so not really a highway car. My son found that out the hard way. The Triumph currently has a carbureted 1980 Buick 3.8 in it. It could not handle the 20 mile 86 MPH drive he took in it. Now its time for improvements.
