Which lowering springs to get in 2021?

Hi everyone,

I have been going through old threads regarding my question, alot of whats in them are old stuff that isn't available anymore. I don't see any talk of zzp springs.
I have 97 gtp, put the RAT suspension kit on in 2000. It used eibach springs, i know they were prone to pogo. Lately i am noticing alot of pogo and am thinking 21yr old eibachs, yeah they are probably shot.
I am looking at the zzp lowering springs. I think they lower the same as eibachs did 2in front/1.5 rear? They claim to eliminate pogo. Not looking for super stiff, really just want pogo to go away and keep roughly the same ride height.
Should i go zzp and be happy? Which others would you recommend?

Thanks
Kevin

How low do you want to go? ZZP just released their new coil overs.

With that said vogtlands offered the same drop as the GMPP lowering springs. The ride was comparable to the GMPP lowering kit when the vogtlands were paired with the AGX struts.

Not looking to go any lower what i have is fine. with 18x8 in rims i do rub when i have people in the backseat over bumps. really just looking for same drop the eibachs give me but no pogo.
went to vogtlands website, no grand prix stuff from them. so they are no go. does anyone have experience with the zzp ones? Not looking to spend the money on coilovers. I put agx ajdustables on front about 5yrs ago, i have the adj konis that were installed in 2000 still on the rear. I think they are ok, but if im gonna do springs, might as well do agx adj and new bearing plates in the rear.

Thanks alot for finding these.
Going agx all around with the vogtlands, is that the consensus best way to go without doing coilovers? Would i need anti-pogo washers with these or are the springs all i would need do you think?
I think the vogtlands lower less than the eibachs i have. Thinking about new wheels, i have 8in now the ones im looking at are 8.5. little more room would help with any rubbing issues, right?

Anti-pogo washers wouldn't hurt. Enjoy the ride. It looks good with the wheel size you are running.

Should i get the zzp anti pogo washers? I see gm made some back in the day too. Thanks again for all your help

I have the zzp's on the way. I am hoping they aren't made by B&G, lol. I doubt zzp would sell springs that give the gp ass sag. That was a thing people were trying to get rid of back when i did my mods.
I asked who makes them for him. He has alot of good reviews on his site, hopefully they aren't paid for like amazon ones are.
Bummer i was a little too late for the vogtlands.

I will. Its a bummer they arent in stock. Im leaving next week on a 6k mi drive around the country. Wouldve been a great time for info and impressions gathering.

$700 for new springs, rear agx struts and the boots and dodads for the struts. or, 850 for zzp coilovers.
labor is going to be compareable since i was doing new springs. so i sent them back with the other stuff

It's $599 and it includes everything you need no?

Just want to make sure I'm not missing something because I'm looking at purchasing these and don't think there is anything additional required (other than the recommended shorter dog bones).

Includes:

  • (4) Struts
  • (4) ZZP Coil springs
  • (4) New strut boots
  • (4) New Rubber isolators (spring pads)
  • (4) New top plates
  • (4) Top plate "anti pogo" washers

i got kyb part #’s
sm5394 times two for rear these are the bearing plates and the strut boots in one kit. i dont know if the ones for the front struts are different, i would think so. look on kyb website
sb105 also a boot for the struts, but the 94 has a metal top embedded in the boot that is waaaay better than this one. the 94 boot itself is nice thick rubber type material, the boot on the 105 is hard plastic accordion stuff
i was going to return these and use the boot in the 94. the boots on zzp webite look like the sb105 i would not use 105 after having the 105 and 5394 side by side.
sm5440 times two, these are the rubber pads the springs sit on. mine looked ok, but they are at least 20yrs old so why not replace them.
got this all from amazon, made returning it all easy. i got the part numbers from kyb website, it is really good and easy to look up what you need.
the kyb stuff is more expensive than zzp stuff, im sure its better quality.
i did get the anti pogo washers, made a noticeable difference, definately get them

forgot to add, if you replace zzp stuff for kyb stuff for the struts and subtract the anti pogos, im sure you will be in striking distance of the coilovers.
a friend of mine buys a new high end car almost every year cause he gets bored easily. he mods every one of them. most dont have coils available so he lowers them with springs in that case. he told me, coils are so much better than lowering springs and adj struts its insane not to do coils if its a matter of a couple hundred bucks.
