Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

where to start

ive read in numerous threads over the past several months that whenever someone asks which pcm to buy, someone always pops in with "get a tuner and learn to do it yourself" well im THINKING about trying that. im thinking about buying hptuners. my question is, where in the hell do i start? i know NOTHING about this. i mean, yeah im sure i could figure out how to delete my rear O2 codes, i may even be able to figure out how to remove the speed limiter. But when it comes to all that other stuff these aftermarket pcms provide (like advanced timing, skip shifts) im a little worried. is hptuners hard to figure out or are things pretty self explanatory? is there like a newbies guide to tuning anyone can point me in the direction of?

There is a website for tuning support. Like a tuning forum that had all the info you need to get started...granted you have to still learn a GREAT deal but it is a very valuable skill to have IMO.

damn thats overwhelming! if i had a spare engine laying around i might try it, but that seems WAAY to easy for me to EF something up really bad

yeah its possible. actually very possible. ive seen people do it just because they did something wrong. ive seen guys that know what their doin mess up the whole motor. having said that, what im gonna do is find a guy in my area that already has a laptop and has a reputation for doin good tuning and pay to have it done. only cost me about 150 bucks vs. 500 somethin to buy it myself.
