when did it happen?

what mileage did your trans go and how fast were you going in the quarter at the time? what did you do wrong? if any...

2001 GTP
19,738 miles when tranny shattered
13.46
Burnout in dead of winter when tranny was cold. I completely shattered the imput sprag into about 25pieces.....

97 GT- 154,000miles.
NO TRANS PROBLEMS....YET.
Slow
however it did have a glitch in it last weekend. made a hard right hand turn and gunned it. hit revv limiter for a full second, to almost 2 seconds..then SLAMMED into gear. when it hit the gear/spun the tires....I dont have the shift kit in it yet. hmm..only has happened one time.

my GTP did that once as well.....not long after the rebuild.

Mine went the first time at about 120K runing high 13's in the quarter. When I got up to ZZP, the diff was broke, all the clutches were burned up, and the sun gear was chipped. Had them rebuild it, and got another whopping 10K out of it before the pump started making noise, and the 1st and 2nd gear clutches burned up. I have 140K on the car now and the pump is making noise again, so it looks like its time for a trannyman special........

102k on it right now...and no problems that I know of. Literally dozens and dozens and dozens of track passes on it.

I did however feel a jerk in it while turning out of my driveway a few weeks back...so it's time to drop the pan to see if I find anything.

I have a '97 STOCK GTP. As far as I know, this is the factory tranny. I have 164k mi on it. Although I thougt mine went out in Branson. Motor mounts were causing the motor to rock back and forth causing a jerking feel. Thanks Chris for the good news.hehe

As best I can tell, pump started going out on mine about 110k. I got 116k on it now and am in the process of rebuilding a spare tranny.

I've heard similiar stories like Chris' several times now. Flame me all you want but I don't think ZZP/Certified makes as good of trannys as everyone thinks IMO. I've heard the same stuff a dozen times now. People have had stock trannies last longer than some of there "built" ZZP trannies. Thats my statement. I would definatly recommend Trannyman for anyones tranny needs.

My 1999 GTP has 155,000 miles and i'm still on the stock tranny. Although I have a built tranny in the garage ready to go when she decides to die.

Now where were you when I was looking for a transmission to buy?

I agree, Im not so impressed with ZZP's track record there. I am a much bigger fan of Trannyman. If you ever talk with him you'll know why. He can clearly explain to you why he does things the way he does and its like someone flips the switch and the light goes off in your head and you're like "Oh yeah, I see that, why didn't I think of that?".

Oh yeah, i've talked to Trannyman on many occasions. He knows his shit. As a matter of fact, he was going to be the one to build my tranny, then a hell of a deal popped in my lap. I am still not certain if I did good or not w/ that deal (I sure hope I did good!), theres only one way to find out! If it don't work I know Trannyman can fix her up. Its got all the hard parts, only thing it doesn't have I wish it did is a GMR diff, too bad they cost $2,000!!!

Besides tranny talk, he does a hellova job on S/C porting. I bought one of his Ported S/C cases from him, he even machined it to what i needed (I didn't need 75mm, he matched my TB at 72mm). Great person to do business with IMO. I plan on doing more business w/ him in the future.

I seriously recommend Trannyman for anyones tranny needs!

I had the diff cover come apart while in a car lot parking lot. This was on my '97 GT - not one singular problem before then, either. I was just looking for a new SUV for my wife and saw one in the showroom - I backed up to look again...then as I put it in drive - it started jerking all over the place. I opened the door to look under the car and it was hemorrhaging fluid and there were pieces of the cover on the ground. ??? This was pre-Trannyman Dave so I paid about $2000 for that little beauty.

My '02 broke about a year or so ago - 4th gear went away as did the input shaft. Trailered it up to Dave's house and he had it built ;) in about 7 hours. Without a doubt - I will be working with Dave on any transmission problems I encounter - ever again. Top notch work, and even better guy.

149000 and still on stock tranny. Hasn't been to the track but maybe 20-30 times, just enough to get solid mid 13 passes. I still need to go since I added the 1.9RRs and SLP headers. On that note does anyone near OK know how to install the LC-1 Wideband?

The orignal trans in my lil' GT went out around 102k miles or so. The car still moved, but 1st and 2nd slipped pretty bad. Good thing 4th work just fine or it would have been an even bigger PITA to get up to Grand Rapids. Drove up to Certified to have it built before I even knew of Dave's existence.:p It drives great most of the time, but every once in awhile it will slip up through the 1-2 shift or not catch first gear on the 3-1.

If I need this thing rebuilt again I know exactly where to go. Plus, he's only 15 minutes away! haha

82k miles. Haven't pulled the transmission apart yet. I was doing some pretty sweet burnouts at the track (look at my avatar). It went out in November, started making some whining noises and then started jerking from a stop. Got it home and I had to rev it a lot to get it in the garage.

Here's the whining sound for those who are interested. It's kind of hard to hear but oh well.

about 75K miles and i was running a 13 flat on drag radials. The 1-2 shift was getting soft at wot abut nothing ever shattered. Now the trans on my GT is acting funny but it had 148K on it

125k on my 99 GT and is still working fine for the most part (knock on wood). The 1-2 shift seems to take a little longer than it should at light throttle, WOT it shifts fine, other gears are firm also. Only real problem is that the Input Clutch Piston (think thats what trannyman said it was) is bad. If i takeoff pretty quick from a dead stop the car shakes pretty bad and hesitates before it catches and goes fine. If i put it into "1" or "2" instead of "3" or "D" it doesn't do it, which i think he said had to do with it increasing trans line pressure in 1 or 2. Also one time it did the "rev up and SLAM into gear from a stop" thing which i think kind of goes along with the above mentioned as far as the cause of it.

Mine is still going strong, but on a humorous note, when we all went to Byron in the fall, it was a honda that broke his transmission and I think all of our trans. survived
