i have a 97 gp gt. i have noticed that my car heats up quickly

now it doesnt over heat it gets up just past the 210 mark and then the fans kick on and it cools just under the 210 mark. it does it over and over again.

this is mainly in town whick i figured was normal at stop n go

hang in there with me

a few months ago when i was in town it wouldnt get quite up to 210 but close. but as soon as i stared moving it cooled back down to normal (biggest mark after the 160)

now like i said when im in the city it stays there and wont cool down inless im on like a 5 mile stretch with no stops

what do you think i could try. bad t-stat?

idk process of elimintation

Yea mine goes a smidge over the big mark that you are talking about. You could check to make sure theres no air in the system with the bleeder screw on the T-stat housing.

Definetly normal for these cars. I wouldn't worry about it too much. If it scares you then get a 180 t-stat and have the PCM reprogrammed for it. ;)

But my motto is don't replace something that isn't broke. :)

how does ur coolant look is the most important question. if its dirty, get a coolant flush. 210 isnt anything extreme for these rides tho.
