• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

What's your opinion on this?

back before fuel injection, you really did need to warm it up, or it simply would not drive, stall burp fart, repeat.

with fuel injection it will run.

if super cold i let it idle 2=3 minutes and off i go.

I ain't going to stop warming my car up. Driving a freezing cold car sucks. If your car is iced over it needs to warm up so you can see. There are many more reasons why I find articles like this dumb. It's just like the articles that say its bad to top off your tank once the pump shuts off.

Sure having the car idle and use fuel is bad for mpg and whatever else but having it really wear out the engine quicker, I don't buy it. Yes driving it will indeed make it warmer faster but for the short time that they idle it's not a huge deal.

Also the newer computer systems in cars nowadays are so fancy that even in open loop functions they are fuel friendly in a way, they may add some extra fuel to get idle right but it's far faster in being able to get back to regular fueling before they even enter closed loop.

Perfect example is crown vic police cars, they idle them forever and that 4.6 just keeps on keeping on. They retire them with 80-120k and then are taxi cabs or whatever for the rest of their lives and still run great well past 200-300k.

Well on some vehicle it's possible to fill the evap system with fuel and cause problems but you'd have to go overboard there. The two click method is good or rounding up. I always round up the .50 or next dollar when I get gas.

Well I read one article about topping off and the author tried to say you are just wasting money because the fuel starts going back into the hose instead of into the tank......

That wasn't the only doozie from that article, but I have seen lots of stupid reasoning.

I can't believe I'm seeing this article for the second time

bull****

warm up your car. You have a cold start enrich table programmed in
adter it reached temp you're fine
we have winter gas.

Msn can suck my balls

Silly article. I won't argue that there is extensive wear from a cold idle...but guess what happens when you add even more fuel to that along with rpms? More wear!

That's some of the dumbest crap I've ever read......"by the time you scrap the ice and snow from your car, you're ready to go" ......so basically warm up your car for a few minutes. Lol.
