ok guys so lattly for some reason my car has been dieing on me for no reason at all i checked my batter to see if the wires are lose but there not so idk if its the altrnater or not but i dont think it is cuz when the car dies and i start it back up it runs just fine. and im also jw why my rpm gage just drops but im still able to drive.

this is all on a 97 grand prix gt
 


Both. The car is dieing because the computer doesn't know where the crank is. Same reason the tach is dropping to 0.
 


This is where it's located. Passenger side wheel well. It is behind the crank pulley, so you'll need to remove it to get at the sensor. You need a Harmonic Balancer puller and some muscle.

man i all most feel like going out and buy a cps for my car just so i have one to use when mines time is up....whats this? the 5th one in 2 weeks?
 
It wouldn't be a bad idea. It sucks when you're driving down the highway and your tach drops to 0. You know you may have a few miles before the damn thing turns off. It sucks worse when you're sitting in traffic and it quits. It can be a bítch to get it restarted. And with the GP's no longer in production, they may get harder to get ahold of. Just make sure you dont get a CPS sensor. Its a CKP sensor, makes a big difference..lol
