Whats the best Exhaust system for my 2007 gxp v8

Bought my gxp about a year ago and I am looking to upgrade the exhaust system. I am undecided about whether or not to do a complete overhaul or just a cat back system. I greatly appreciate any help!
 


Pick some mufflers and get them welded in.

You'll likely wish to remove the AFM/DoD with a tune when you install the exhaust, it will sound like a helicopter and possible drone in 4 cylinder mode.
 
I had a GXP go past me at an intersection the other day. Not sure what the exhaust was, but it was deep, loud and rumbled; made my weiner move a little. :)
 
If I ever do the exhaust on my gxp, I was thinking I would do a 3" downpipe with a catalytic converter delete, 3 inch pipes with the stock resonator and stock mufflers. I'm not sure if it will work, but that's what I've been thinking about.
 


I had two different setups...I had a HFC 3" ZZP DP, into SLP LM2's...and I used an SLP LM1 as a resonator with stock catback piping. Loud as hell. Droned like crazy. Sounded like a truck. Rasp. No bueno. - See here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1AHTsY4TpYo

It does not. All chambered mufflers still sound sh1tty on these cars because of the way the exhaust is setup up front. Nearly as bad as a 3800.
 
what is HFC?

if only they could stuff an 8.1 liter engine in these things, I loved the way mine sounded at about 4000 rpm.
 
The Vortec 8100 was a towing motor.

There was nothing power wise coming out of an iron motor from top to bottom without a massive turbo.

HFC is high flow cat.

Haven't you been around cars awhile?
 
apparently I haven't been around cars enough to know what hfc meant. just never saw it before. the 8.1 was a good towing motor, I liked how it sounded in a rev.
 


How 'bout the Magnaflow w/ a ZZP DP. Give it an intake & port stuff too. It'll give you a nice noisy rumble that you'll get tired of real fast w no noticeable bumps in power.
 
lol at the guy that starts a thread, comes back the next day and does nothing else. I guess it's ok because the thread gave me a few ideas for the future.
