what was first year for plastic gas tank?

I removed one from a car in a salvage yard over a year ago but don't remember what year the car was. Anyone put a smaller plastic tank into a GP that came with a steel one? If so, is it a "plug & play" (install & drive)kinda thing?

half the 98s had them. after that they were all plastic.

of course, they are all interchangeable.

Can I assume this means the fuel pump from the plastic tank is o.k. to use in my '98 even if the replacement tank is from a normally asperated GT?

yeah. i used a GT pump on my l67 setup. they are the same anyway.
