I have a stock 98 grand prix gt. I want to get rid of the top speed limiter and thats about it. raising shift points would be ok too. my friend has a 98 grand prix gt too and he wants the same thing. a tuner that we could both use and split the cost would be the best, but i dont want one i have to have a laptop to tune my car. In the future i will do an u-bend delete and a cone air filter, so what will the best tuner be for me....what is the intense or overkill pcms also?

thanks a ton

If you are only doing basic mods then just buying a PCM from any of the vendors will do, but if you plan on modding further a tuner would be the way to go. The only tuner that I know of that has a screen is the HP Tuners pro version.

If all the two of you want is to get rid of the speed limiter...forget about any tune. Why is there a need to spend money to go that fast? Save your money, run the car to the limiter, and then spend the money on lawyers and court costs.

If the two of you have future performance plans, splitting an HP Tuner might not be a bad call.

I have never hit the speed limiter, that is for sure. :th_wavefinger:

When I said fast, I did not mean acceleration, I was referring to the top speed that you seem to want. I can do 130 in my beater truck, a Geo Metro, and just about anything else if you pedal fast enough and wind it out...but why? Like I said, save your money for going "stupid top-end fast" and spend it on things that will get you going quicker 0-60 or down the ¼ mile.

On the other hand it is nice to be able to actually top out your car on special occasions :th_king-evil:. That is without being stupid of course.

Not really, just be sure to choose a good road that's long enough with plenty of visability and no traffic at all (which is easy to find out where I live :D). Also make sure you and your car can handle going that fast too, if you have never gone very fast before do not try and top out your car, take it slow one step at a time. Some people though should just never attempt to go that fast since some people just don't know how to drive and wouldn't know what to do if they got themselves into a bad situation, and by knowing how to drive I mean pushing your car and learning it limits and figuring out how to handle it properly. Not many people can complete this checklist though so can I see why you wouldn't encourage going that fast :th_peaceout:.
