What to do in Kentucky? Looking for suggestions.

Modded for Maximum Slow
Alright so I will be heading to Kentucky with my family around the first weekend of August for a family reunion. Since we are going all the way there we figure that we should just make a trip out of it. The plan so far is the family reunion, Mammoth Cave, and the Corvette factory. I would like to do some more touring of car stuff but as for my mom not so much. What suggestions do you all have for places to go around Kentucky that would be good touristy spots or maybe some spots off the beaten path that would be good? Any and all suggestions welcome!

Dale Hollow Lake is an incredible lake if you are into boating because you can rent anything from a jetski to a houseboat. We used to go there all the time and that is where we kept our boat.

There is a train museum right near the corvette museum that is pretty interesting also there is another car museum with all makes and models from the 50's and 60's adjacent to the corvette museum

Alright. I will probably check that out. If anyone who lives in the area or nearby states has some good suggestions feel free to suggest. We will probably drive around a bit to see stuff. The more suggestions the better!

Where are you going to be. Downtown Louisville is great? Around 4th street has great restaurants and museums. You have the Louisville Slugger factory and a children's science museum. Also across the river in Indiana is Rocko's. Great great pizza

Im not sure where exactly we will end up but the reunion is in Owensboro. I believe last time when we were down there we skipped Louisville so we will probably go there this time too. It sounds like its basically going to be a trip where we just drive to where we are going and if we know of someplace near the route we are on we will stop.

I second this :D! I'll be at Dale Hollow from the 13th - 18th then heading to Nashville and then to Bowling Green for the Vette Museum/Factory! Look for a Red Mastercraft with a bunch of Wakeboarders if you decide to go

Lake Cumberland? I go down on a houseboat every year with my family and we take our boat and jetskis and spend a week on the water. It's not cheap. I'm not saying you have to do that lol, but there's lots of things to do, not to mention it is absolutely beautiful and the water is crystal clear. Do some charter fishing or something. I went striper fishing on a charter there and it was an awesome experience. Here's some pics to show ya. It's just a beautiful place.
