What should I keep before scrapping?

OK, the 2001 Grand Prix SE 3.1 liter I got as a parts car is going to the scrap yard since I can get most of my moneys worth back out of it that way. Long story short, I bought the parts car for the engine to put in my 98 GT and I was delivered a car with a 3.1 when I needed a 3.8. Greaaaaat. It currently has no front bumper, hood, front right fender, passenger door, or headlights. The parts I was planning to take off of the car for sure are the factory 5 spoke gray alloy wheels, brake calipers, dogbones, and the side bracing bars from the engine compartment. Since I can paint or polish these parts and put them onto my GT when I get time. Is there anything else that I should keep that would be of value or use on my 98 GT? Thoughts and comments please. I'm a noob to the Grand Prix word, and still have to figure out why my 98 GT is not a runner. But that's for a different thread.

Thanks TexasTanker19kilo20 Are they worth it? Drivers side switch tab is broke off of the top already....just like every other one that someone tried to pull up once upon a time.

Interior pieces are always being looked for, I'm looking for dark grey/ black interior pieces. Even though the switch mount is broke, people are always looking for the switch itself.

Ok. And L36 Killer, it's a 4 door SE. But my 98 2 door GT has GT body Panels. :th_winking: Looks like more parts are going onto a shelf for safe keeping or selling some day.

Is the alternator the same between a 3.1 and a 3.8, or should I keep anything directly off of or relating the the engine? Call it preventative maintenace parts.

Sounds like a plan. I'm picking up a '99 SE that has the GT body. Same color as my car too! :D MANY spare parts! LOL

I honestly do not remember the interior color, but it WAS NOT tan or taupe. It was a shade of gray I think. When I saw the 3.1 engine, I pulled it directly out back behind my barn, and tarped it. The more parts I leave on it, the better weight I get in scrap. :th_laugh-lol3:

Thanks. I'm relatively new to this forum and Grand Prix ownership. Any and all help, advice, comments and thoughts is greatly appreciated. Not too worried about making a quick buck off of any parts. Just need to get the thing off of the property, and I'll be listening to the 6.5 liter turbo diesel sing as I pull her to the scrap yard. Hmmmm, turbo whine.
