What parts in a rebuild?

My wife's 2000 GTP tranny is toast according to the local shop in Norman, OKlahoma (P0742 and P0757 codes). Everything I read and heard about these codes = rebuild. I am in Connecticut so I can't deal with it from here obviously. Even if I was there I could only remove and install I never rebuilt a tranny. My question is what parts does she need to do this thing right? A rebuild kit such as one similar to triple edges and a new torque converter and fluids? Or will she need new TCC solenoid and or solenoid B? We have a friend of her parents that owns a shop in OKC and will do it for $350 plus parts which seems fair. From what I saw on triple edges site the rebuild kit and converter should run $400-$500 which would make the total about $750-$850 plus fluids. The local Norman shop wanted $1700 plus fluids which seems really high. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance to all who reply.
