What LIM can I run if planning a Gen V swap later on?

Ok, so my LIM is leaking on my 99 gtp. I plan on replacing it sometime soon and I want to do a gen v swap, but I just can't afford it right now. Could I get a LIM ported for a gen v but still use it with my gen 3? I just didn't want to have to remove the LIM again down the road.

Should I put in some new lifters while I'm in there? I will probably do lifters later too.

So I haven't really got in to it, but I am leaking coolant. Does a bad LIM leak out of the motor too? I know the leak in, but didn't know if maybe I have a leak somewhere else too.

Thanks.

the LIM gasket is what leaks and should be replaced with the aluminum gaskets, they are like $55 and there is a video in the how to's on how to do it. unless your LIM has a crack in it then its the gasket.

Ya I knew they did just been waiting to do it. Probably going to get some of the leak detector just to make sure I don't have any other surprises.

ok. and to answer your original question, the bolt pattern is the same. you can use a Gen 3 LIM with a gen V if its ported for an intercooler. i would think it works in the reverse to. but you can just open up your gen3 LIM for the genV

the problem lies in where the outlet is on the genV. you can port out a genIII LIM to work with a genV, but you cannot do it the other way around.
