If you can fell the rpm change I would say it is the converter locking and unlocking, try a transmission serivce.

Gotta be careful with Dexron VI. Alot of components required seal modulus changes to be compatable with Dex VI.
I'm not a trans guy, but I can tell you other products that use it had to make changes to accomodate it.

apparently synthetic dex III is the best bet for vehicles that came with dex III.
