I need help identifying this part and finding out where it goes. I had to remove the timing chain cover to fix a water leak on my sons 2006 3800 Series 3 supercharged Grand Prix. In the process of removing the cover this fell off and I dont know what it is or where it goes. I am assuming it has something to do with the oil filter housing but I am not sure where. Any help would be appreciated.

you took the oil filter housing off the timing cover, that goes in the hole in the cover that the o/f housing covers.
 
Spring goes in the hole first.. cap faces the oil adapter. Make sure you clean and replace the gasket while you are there and put sealant on your bolts.
