I tried searching but had no luck so maybe you guys can help me... I just bought a 97 grand prix GTP. I noticed that it had a K&N filter so i bought a recharge kit for it figuring it was dirty... Well i started to disassemble the intake box... there is this large hunk of something in there that is just sitting there??? It says... "Delco Electronics" on it and has a wiring harness going from inside the intake to somewhere, its not bolted down or anything, just sitting on some foam pads...

Is this suppose to be in there? I'm new this this car so... no wise cracks if its something completly newbish!

Thanks in advance.

this is quite possibly the funniest thread of all time...:th_laugh-pointup::th_jester::th_biggrin2::th_biggrin3::th_laugh-lol1:ROFLMAO

No matter what these guys say, don't feel bad, anicolay, you aren't the first person to ask this, and you won't be the last, I'm sure.

I have never seen anything like this in my life! call me a newb all you want! :) I searched the forum for about an hour... maybe i didnt use the correct search terms but i found nothing... is this only on GTP's? Of all the cars that i have worked on in my life... the only thing i have ever seen in an air box is... well... AIR!!!

Glad i was able to brighten your day with a good laugh however!

I don't know if it was a good spot to put it in but they put it there for the security and seclusion IMO. It is pretty much safe from any water or any other elemental source that might enter the engine bay...of course if you ever upgrade to a aftermarket air intake system, the PCM will be exposed...but it isn't a big deal.
