Just left work. Went to accelerate out of parking lot onto road, but instead car lost power and now sounds like a weed whacker. It wasn't empty of oil; it was about half full.

Coil pack? Spark plugs? Blown engine? Any help is appreciated as I sit here in my car posting on my terrible phone waiting for my father to make the hour drive to pick me up, hah.

Yeah, almost exactly like that. Picture the ****tiest sounding car ever.

It's a 2004 3.8L. Not to sound like a dick but posting on the Pontiac Grand Prix forums in the 3800 non-supercharged subsection made posting the make of my car a little redundant in my head. My bad, hah.

So am I burning her boys, or can she be saved?

Year, mileage, and any and all mods and know issues really helps narrow down the troubleshooting. Remember all we got is words on a screen to go off of.

If it sounds like that video, you motor is blown up.

Time to find another engine and swap it in.

Maybe the lack of oil like you said in your first post did it, because you said it was only half full, so that wouldnt even read on the dipstick if that was true.

Yeah I check the oil in my car and my wife's every weekend unless there's a leak or any other reason to check it sooner. But yeah it reads even now about half full.

So you mean between the 2 dots on the dipstick, that only means its around .3 to .5 quarts low, not like half low on the actually oil level. The car holds 4.5 quarts.

You mean half way up the dipstick? Cuz like cam said half full you wouldnt even see it on the dipstick.
l26's are cheep, I paid $399 for mine.

Yeah, half full on the dipstick between full and low or whatever. I scanned it and it's saying my "second cylinder" isn't firing. Would that code display if the engine was actually boned? Or could it just be a spark plug?

Perhaps.

Would prolly be best to have a shop look at it and be sure on the exact issue. It may or may not need a motor, depends on if the bottem end in knocking away or if its just a super bad misfire causing the problems.

Motor seems to be idling to smooth to be a misfire to me... but could be video quality or whatever... I'm betting a rod or main bearing.

That isn't a video that he uploaded. Unless he has a time machine and went back in time.

Sent from my mobile office.

how is the pass side the far right? you always look at it like you were at the bumper looking at it.

Right and left of a car are from the same point of view as you would say for yourself. Passengerside is right, driverside is left. As if the car's headlights were it's eyes and the bumper it's mouth.

If you lookup parts and it says front left...that's driverside front.
