What do I have to watch on the power steering when dropping the cradle?

I'm about to drop the cradle to swap the tranmission, and am reading about complications that may arise do to the steering rack. I've had the rack out before and know that it sits in the cradle slots pretty firmly even without the bolts in. And also that it took me hours to get one of the fittings of the lines to line up correctly so that it would thread on there, so I do not want to pull the whole thing out. Will there be enough clearance to pry the rack out of the cradle slots, and then secure it before dropping the cradle?

Just take the two bolts out that hold the steering rack to the craddle and you will be fine. Its also not a bad idea to strap or bungie cord the rack up so it doesnt get pulled or drop off of the steering shaft. After the bolts are out you will be able to pry the rack out of the craddle. When going back together you can slighltly spread the ears on the craddle that the steering rack sits in so you dont have to fight shoving it back into place. you do not need to unhook the tie rod ends or any fluid lines on in it either.
