• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

What did I do?

cameron92

Grand Pricks
I was merging on to the highway and I had my foot to the floor, and when I let off the gas pedal was stuck under my floor mat. So I had to hold the brake then throw it into neutral, but when i threw it in neutral it revved up to around 6500 RPM for a few seconds until I could get the gas pedal loose.

I took it easy the rest of the way home praying that nothing went wrong. I decided to do a half throttle acceleration, and there was a very slight chugging feeling (almost barely noticeable, but just enough to feel it.) I went full throttle and there was no chugging feeling...

What could of went wrong.. Please help

What can I look at for signs of damage.

Odd looking at my will tune.

Car should stopped at 5000 in neutral.

Oh wait... I remember now, the drive rev limiter applies when its moving in neutral.

Don't ask me why...

You sure you're not just being paranoid? Stock spark cutoff in neutral is there to prevent engine damage unless something else was about to let go.

Ya I was going to say, I never thought that it would rev that high. It was probably closer to 7000rpms now that I think about it. But I know my tach is a bit off, and i wasnt looking at my scangauge.

I am probably being a little paranoid. I just never noticed the slight chugging before. Who knows it could have been my tires or something, I was going up a hill and it was pouring rain out.

i always wonder why people don't just turn the key to off when the throttle gets stuck. hell of a lot safer. panic panic panic lol

ive done it, not as bad as hitting the car in front of you. i had a cable shred and stick in my truck. after i stopped i had to tie a string to the throttle to get to the dealer to get a new cable. good times!

hell a rolling shut down is better than a throw into neutral any day, never saw a motor get hurt from being shut off while driving. and the brakes will still work just stand on them, and who needs power steering vs a stuck throttle? a run away car is no fun when it happens.

It was a joke.

Most times when someone has a failed serp belt they sound something like, "OMG I HAD NO POWER STEERING OMGOMGOGMGOMGOGMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOOGMGOM".

i hear ya lol back to panic panic panic lol your heart will skip a beat too.

blown belts, sh1t, i'd be worried about what it wrapped its self around, not no p/s lol

I'd always key off. The adrenaline more than makes up for power assisted items. :th_king-normal:

I'd also say that likely you are just paranoid and didn't notice it before. Anything over 15mph and you'll get full rev limiter rpm. We will pretend that I don't bounce mine off the limiter to say hi to the guys at Advance etc. Right..don't follow my example. A fresh motor is only a few hours and a couple hundred for me.
