What can i use to recoat supercharger rotors..

Hey guys i got a newly used supercharger and the coating is mostly gone on it and was wondering what can i use to put on them to recoat? Anything in mine available at my local car autopart stores? Im gonna clean the rotors good tommarrow in the varsal bin at school to get em cleaned up and to get the gunk off them lol let me know guys thanks :)

Then time the rotors properly.

Best option is having blower rebuilt, cheapest is buying another used blower.
 
There is no cost effective way that I've heard of. Best suggestion is getting lots of pics of a another charger before you buy.
 
How much difference does the coating make? Wat if i sand down the old one off cause its chipping and run it like that?
 


if you remove the coating it wont seal as well and you will be loosing boost.

has anyone tried designing something like an Apex seal like used on the RX7's? not sure how it would hold up to the RPMs. the heat shouldn't be a problem for them though.

its all about getting the rotor edge to seal on the other rotor. how about having a brass insert? or something that can wear easy to the shape of the other rotor? like weld a bead of aluminum to each rotor edge. then sand and shape to fit right.

they install teflon strips in a similar manner on old detroit diesel blowers.

But its considered short term use as it normally wears off quite quickly.
 
You can use TB cleaner to strip the coating. You lose about 3psi of boost w/o coating.

There's a charger I think Intrigue98 has in my garage. I'm sure he's looking to sell and the coating should be good. Want me to check?
 
just to make sure the coating is the ``grey`` on the rotor rightÉ not the black loon stuff which i think is carbon. if the coating is the grey right before the shinny silver then its still good. and i thought the coating was the black ish stuff. but after i cleaned it up in varsal it was nice and grey

Thing to keep in mind is I never suggest cleaning them. Because of the above and that any carbon is helping to seal and give you better compression.
