I don't know if it's a tranny issue or something else. I bought the car last August. After 2 weeks of extended driving, or even just driving until it warmed up, my transmission started whining. It was very sporadic. Although the transmission would whine, I never noticed any shifting problems even with the whining occuring. The whining would go away after cycling the key on and off. After this, I took it to a transmission shop. On my way there, it started up. Got in the shop lot, got a guy, told him what was happening, he hooks a scanner and gets the stored max adapt code along with a map sensor code. Then he takes it for a test drive - drives about 10 minutes, NO WHINING-NOTHING when he gets back. Says everything shifts beautifully and it even engages perfect through all gears (P,R,N,D, etc). He said it was a very good running car. He said the next thing to do would be to drop the pan and check it. So I leave shop lot to drive back home, get a few blocks away - WHINING appears. I go online, do some research, find out it's a common problem for this max adapt code.
So in September I installed the transgo kit, cleaned pan, replaced pan gasket, changed filter, added lucas stop slip, and 7-8 quarts of tranny fluid. Whining has NEVER came back since. There wasn't anything in the pan but a little clutch dust. I also replaced the map sensor and made that code go away.
A few times last fall while driving after a bit, the car seems like theres missing power. I seem to notice it on roads that I have to go from a stop to like a 60mph speed limit. My foot will go maybe half way down to get up to speed. But since winter hit, I haven't really noticed any of this. But twice this winter i've had an extended crank no start issue. I've also had an issue happen maybe 3 times where the car would start and then die immediately and restart just fine. And I've had an issue where the car would start and have a lumpy idle for a few seconds and then smooth out. The plugs, plug wires, fuel filter, were all changed in 2013. I cleaned the IAC and map sensor a few months ago. And last week I pulled the vacuum hose off the FPR and smelled raw gas, but saw no gas coming out. So I replaced the FPR 3 days ago and I've been cycling the key and waiting 5 seconds before I start it. So far it's all been good. I'm jut worried with the summer coming up, I'll start experiencing this bogging down or loss of power because of hot temperatures.
Oh yeah I also did the LIM and UIM gaskets. Replaced the entire UIM with the upgraded EGR pipe from dorman.
