What automatic transmission fluid to use

My car is 99 gp Gt

I'm gonna drop the pan and put a new filter in.

I just wen to auto zone for the Mobil 1
And it's like 10$/qt

Wham else can I use cheaper but not bad.
And how much will I need? 8?

I think all you need is 7 for a pan drop.

I put the cheapest dex III in that I can find.

Make sure you get a filter made in the USA.

Grab 8 quarts.

I use the cheap valvoline dexron 3 fluid, only like 3-4 bucks a quart. I ended up needing just over 7.5 quarts to fill it back up.

The filter I bought on eBay is acdelco but made in Mexico

I use dex vi the cheapest i can find. I would stay away from the high end manufacturers its a waste of money.

Auto Zone has gallons of maxlife for $15.99 DEX VI

Stick with dex 3 on your 99. Valvoline, castrol and even walmarts super tech brand are good. I would pick up 8 quarts just in case.

dont put dex vi in a 99 tranny. use dex iii. its thicker and what the older trans is supposed to use.

GM back spec'd it for use in DEXIII apps its a better fluid period.DEXIII is thicker when cold only.

^^^ Yes, and the V stands for viscosity improvers. It's semi synthetic.

DEXIII will be fine too I am not saying anyone is wrong.The best fluid for the money is the maxlife.Fluid technology has came a long way since DEXIII came out.
