weird ticking noise coming from turbo

theres a ticking noise comin from my turbo it seems to be the propeller I THINK....not too familiar with turbo's and all the parts on the inside but when i took of air filer and shut car off i watched the propeller slow down and it gradually stopped tickin sooo what does this mean.....i need a new turbo????
 


post up some pics, what kind of turbo is it? Is there any play in the wheel or visible scuffs?
 
Its a time bomb in the turbo, run :th_exploding:[sorry couldn't resist].

First be positive it is coming from the turbo. I detect noise/ vibration with a screwdriver, put the handle to your temple and the other end to the turbo. If its not the turbo it could be the waste gate or the heat sheild [im not sure if you have the latter im going off of my friends Subaru.]
If its defiantly the turbo it could be a bearing or one of the turbine [fan] blades. I have no idea how or if you can fix either so cant be of help there.
 
Grab the compressor shaft and see how much play is in it.
Look at the compressor housing, is it scared up from the blades rubbing it?
Give the screwdriver trick a try and deffinatly locate the exact location of the ticking.
