Wear on outside of passenger front tire

Just bought a 2000 gt for 150$ I've searched and found bad alignment for both tires being worn on the outside. My question is. Why would only the passenger front tire be wearing on the outside. Rest of the tires are like new yet.

Something's bent. Time to wrench on a tie rod end to get her close.

Will do. Thanks guys. Going to try and get it running tonight (says it needs a coil) Then will get to the suspension.

a few things could cause wear on one side
1. get it on an alignment setup and check the obvious - are camber and toe in spec? other alignment specs or big variation from one side to the other can reveal bent components
2. check ball joint wear on that side
3. check control arm bushing condition, if the bushings are worn the tire can lean out and scrub more during left turns
4. driving habits - hard steering while braking, etc.

good luck

Thanks mguzzo. So far 185 into this car and had it purring like a kitten this morning. Next step is oil change. Then while that's draining I'll pull that tire off and check suspension parts.

Will do gpcharlie. Doing a tune up on it. Was hoping to finish it today but rain has stopped that idea. Once I get the back 3 plugs and wires done I'm taking it to my dad's shop and digging into the suspension issue

if the suspension checks out and you go for an alignment; ask for a printout of the final results. the printout, will provide info to where the problem was and that the tech made the proper corrections.... and didn't just "toe and go it".
