Vibration help

About 3 days ago I got a vibration in the front end. I really feel it at 1/4 throttle at as low as 30 mph and higher speeds. When I let off the the throttle it goes away. It almost feels like a loose pulley(I checked them and they seem fine). I checked the motor mounts and they seemed ok. At first I thought it was a loose wheel or one out of balance or even a wheel bearing, but I ruled that out since it goes away when i'm not giving it any throttle and its not making any noise. The other thought that I keep having is a cv joint (not sure which side) although there is no vibration when turning.

Seems like that has been many peoples problem with similar symptoms when I did a search. Any ideas or suggestions? I would appreciate it.

mine does this but its because my torque converter isnt locking up and it really only does it at highway speeds with slight throttle. ive had 2 other automatics with bad converters that made the front end wobble. both were RWD

Not trying to be a dick but if you know the answer to your problem then why post the question? I've heard of suspension components, drive line components, and wheel bearing causing front end vibrations, but not a torque converter that is new to me. Usually when your accelerating and there is a wobble then let off the gas and it goes away, the most common problems are u joints going out, RWD, or a cv joint going out, FWD.

thats ok dude. and i had a chevy van with a 350. the converter wouldnt lock up and the whole front end whobbled like crazy. i thought the mechanic was BSing me when he told me but it was no lie. i also had an 81 bonneville with a 5.0 that did the same thing. i did a trans swap and the engine wouldnt communicate with the lock up converter for some reason. bad wiring or something.

yeah, i would love to get an explenation as to WHY it does that.
nice coupe btw. red is gonna be my next gp.

Thanx, it has its issues right now which I'm trying to work out. Its a work in progress. I'm trying to restore its former glory while at the same time making it better and faster. I have a thread up of the car under members rides, nick name SLPR DD

grand prixs arent for the mechanicaly uninclined, but if you fix them right theyre such good cars. mine is a BOSS in the snow, which is the main reason i havent switched to something with a v8, thats easier to go fast.

ya its lil things here and there that when i get one thing fixed another thing goes wrong. before it was a misfire, turns out the coil for that cylinder was at first had low output voltage then quit altogether. got that fixed and literally a week later its running like crap again with horrible gas mileage and cant exceed 40-50% throttle and it starts chugging with a DTC code, so ive been troubleshooting that for about a month now..................little things

multiple missfires? mines the same way but its soooo worth the effort to keep it repaired. catalytic converters can get clogged, the coil packs can all go bad.
btw autozone can test your coil packs and your ignition control module. use an ohm meter on the coil packs. should be between 5k and 12k ohms.

yo, I too am having issues with vibration. (2000 GRAND PRIX GTP 170,000)
Once i reach speeds of 50mph on the highway the vibrations start. AND like Bowtie, once i let of the gas it goes away.Seems to be comming from my front end. I am taking it in tomorrow to get the front end checked and an alignment. Will post my results tomorrow. Thanks

Mine was like yours Ca5p21x and it was the tires that were out of balance. Had them balanced and rotated and it fixed the problem.

So I have an update on my vibrating issue. I have three horrible tires. One tire is even cupped. Brutal right Suspension checked out cool I.E. Control arm, ball joint, bushings, wheel hub/Bearing, Axle Shaft So have all your tires checked and balanced and see if that fixes your issue.
