Very stiff brake pedal?

In moderate weather (below 40 degrees F) when the GP is driven after sitting for 7-8 hrs. the brake pedal is extremely stiff and requires 3 to 4 pumps before it requires normal force to actuate then it works fine. It feels as if the booster is not functioning. Has anyone else had a similar situation? What is the remedy? The GP is a '01 GTP with 120K. Thanks for any info. :th_scratchhead:

It could be ice in the vacuum line or the check valve in the vacuum line they collect a lot of moisture in ther and can freeze...look in there...just a starting point...

Matt5112, thanks for the input but if there was a leak in the vacuum line or the booster was leaking wouldn't it be a constant problem rather then intermittent?

buemech, thanks for the info. I will definitly check the system for any ice build up. If that is the problem is there a way to keep it from happening in the future?
PS I definitly agree with your opinion of turbo versus blown!!

Yeah you're right.

I'm not overly familiar with brake boosters but i know they're not that bad to replace.

Ones from junkyards can be had for cheap so other than hunting around, I'd replace it.
