Vehicle wont go in gears?

my vehicle is 97 grandprix gtp supercharged 3800 seriesII. My car starts normally, everything is fine with it, except when ever i switch it to R,N,D,3,2,1 it works only for like 1 minute and then everything acts like the car is in Neutral. What i am trying to say is that, when i freshly start my car and put the shifter from P to D, it goes in gear but then when its warmed up it wont simply goes in any gears at all, then i switch it to NEUTRAL or Reverse nothing happens, no switching movement nothing, then i turn my ignition off, and then restarted my vehicle same thing, it shifts to all of them R,N,D,3,2,1 but as soon as i start to drive it doesn't want to pull the vehicle. I checked the shifter cable, its fine and i also inspeted the tranny it was replaced by the previous owner back in 2008 june. u think it my torque converter? i hope my explaination is understandable!

A transmission works on the movement of fluid. Based on your description it sounds like there's an issue with the filter being plugged etc by something and no fluid moving.

I saw this type of behaviour once when a lot of material would block the filter. On start up, all that material is at the bottom of the pan and the filter can pull some fluid, as the fluid is pulled the material clogs the filter and the trans stops functioning.
