Valve Cover Removal Help

USMarine430

New member
this will be a multi part question. I am trying to remove the bank 1 valve cover on my series II gtp.

SO far I have uncoupled the passenger side motor mount, removed the Supercharger belt, tensioner pulley, the other pulley next to it, removed the two bolts that sat underneath it and the threads that went into the block. I have also removed the ignition control module, coil packs, plug wires and harness plug.

By the look of it there is now nothing that should be holding this ignition control module/tensioner/motor mount bracket on. . . is there a bolt I am missing.

It looks like there might be a bolt that runs through the tensioner thru the block. . . *?* help!

take the bolt out of the middle of the tensioner, it will all slide off after thats off. note how it goes back on as well.

damn. I thought thats what I needed to do. I started taking it out and I think I stripped it a little. It was one of those damn TORX head bolts and right now It doesn't like me very much.

Thanks scotty!

just find the right size socket and i think its a stud, the nut holds the tensioner on. so that star part on the tip there stays put. its a stud.

you are a mad man! *insidious laugh* alrighty. .. . valve cover off. . . and the springs look to be good.

to break this down barney style they engine is knocking pretty bad. Its not the ignition, no vaccum leaks, fuel pressure is good. . . and its pretty much everything there is generically that one would assume to be the cause of the knock.. . . but its not. A guy on youtube posted the same problem and made a video of it. I have the same issue and his #6 cylinder was broken.

SO - now that I have determined its not cylinders 1 3 or 5. . .. time to get nasty on the back end. no inuendo intended.. .. that was pretty bad. . .
