Vacuum line repair MacGyver style

I just replaced my fubar LIM this weekend (not as bad as I thought) and discovered several rotted and split vacuum fittings. There is one going into the base of my LIM at the front of the engine that's a tee fitting. The tee fitting has two plastic tubes on either end and the base of the tee attaches to the LIM.

During its removal, I noticed that the rubber tee fitting was dry rotted and split. Previously, I had fixed this using a zip tie to close the split.

That would not work on this one as the tee fitting was broken in half. In my desperation to finish, I looked around for something that might be able to fix it.

I found it: heat shrink tubing.

The HST just mended the existing rubber. The rubber still seals against the fitting, it was just split. This is kind if like a low profile hose clamp.

I would think the crack still exists and when it's on the nipple..it's leaking.

I've seen all sorts of ideas about how to try and cheat from spending $5-10 on a few pieces to make it good. Each time.. they are typically leaking.

The crack was in the rubber tee, the plastic etc is still fine.

Keep in mind that I may still replace this rubber tee. That being said, I see no evidence of any leaking (with smoke test).

Just tossing it out there. I prefer a fresh rubber line or T. No crack to open up, no piece of heat shrink to break.
