Used Z7 Turbo kit

1997GTPFUN

New member
I'm new to the forum. I have a 97 GTP with 100k on it. Minimal mods so far, ZZP 1.0 PCM, not cat or resonator, K&N filter on the stock AI, 180 Therm.
Otherwise, it's all stock.
My dilemma is the kit doesn't have instructions. I have spent several hours searching this forum and others to no avail. Anybody out there have a set?
I figured ZZP would likely not help me out since I didn't buy from them, maybe I'm wrong on that.

The kit is complete with everything including a NS MAF and a Wide band 02

I will upgrading my injectors to 65's and running my stock trans until I smoke it or get enough cash for a build.

Any suggestions or pointers would be greatly appreciated.
:)

i have a z7 kit, what do you need help with? the crossover comes off, put on the z7 crossover, cap the rear mani and remove the stock downpipe, keep everything hand tight before you mount the turbo then line everything up and tighten it up. oil pickup hose goes where the oil pressure sensor is, drain goes where the oil level sensor is

Thanks for the overview I really appreciate it. I think I will be able to stumble my way through the big stuff you outlined. I guess my questions are more related to the smaller stuff like the Wastegate vacuum/boost source, N Star TB, wide band 02 etc. I also need to figure out the IC piping routing and mounting. I found a bunch of pics of a car with a Z7 kit that I saved for reference, but actual instructions would just take a lot of guessing out, and also keep me from asking you guys a bunch of dumb questions lol, (which will probably happen anyway.)
Anyway, thanks for getting back to me. Suppose theres no hope you saved your instructions?

Go to cartuning.ca and download their instructions. It will be damn similar to your install.
Do you have a 1997? Make sure that upper downpipe is modified to fit. I also have plenty of pictures in my build thread. Click the link in my sig.

If you have any specific questions, just ask and I'll do my best to answer.

I am willing to bet if you email ZZP they would direct you were to find it.

Hey thanks a bunch to both you guys:)
I was pretty tied up today, but just finished going over your 8 page thread txslow6. A ton of great info and I have added some stuff to my list of upgrades based on your build. I will definitely be hoping to get some help once I start to tear into it. It is a 97, what is the mod on the upper downpipe specific to the 97?
I will be ordering a lot of stuff from ZZP like the 65# injectors so when I do, I will beg and plead for mercy and ask them for the instructions:th_winking:

Hey QwickGT how long have you had the Z7 kit on your GP? Do you have any threads anywhere with pics or?

Thanks again guys! If it wasn't for this forum I would still be dreaming of ever smaller SC pulleys, but instead now its staging christmas trees and turbos dancing in my head:th_laugh-lol3:

Anybody has some dusty, black fingerprinted, tattered Z7 instructions out there, scanned, faxed, emailed, snail mailed, carrier pigeoned, I'd be happy to take a peak!

The upper downpipe has to be modified (basically a bend) to clearance the ABS module. 97's require a bend otherwise you will need to remove ABS or switch to a newer one. Also if your upper dp is 3" then you will need a Monte Carlo brake booster or similar.

Anybody have any pics of the special bend in the 3" DP for the ABS clearance issue on the 97? I would definitely prefer to not have to remove the ABS or to have to switch over to a newer ABS if I didn't absolutely have to.

There should be pics of the down pipe in my build thread. I don't however have a picture of a non modified one to gauge the exact difference.

Notice the kink on the piping going from the turbo? It's the portion that kinks right by the ABS unit.

Well, I was really hoping that ZZP would help me out on the Z7 instructions, not just because I have been a long time buying customer, but just for being a company that wants to stand out from the rest by offering above the the call of duty customer support. The company I work for sells proprietary parts we manufacture and we get calls quite often from people that buy our parts used and need help by getting instructions to get our parts on quickly and safely. I made another big purchase in parts from them last week and asked them for a copy of the Z7 instructions and explained why I needed them.
They sent me my parts and ignored the request for the Z7 instructions. :(
To bad, I was hoping they would want to offer better customer service for their fellow Modders.

I really appreciate you guys offering me the suggestions and the help with the pics of how you put it all together. I plan to get started before the end of April.

What tx said about checking out the cartuning manual. That is given out like it should, and will offer more insight as well. Best of luck man, hope it comes out good.

I can help you out, have the instructions scanned to a PDF format. I can E-Mail you a copy of both the Z7 Kit Install and the IC Install if interested.

Just wanted to say thanks again to you guys for helping me out. ARFF22 sent me a full color PDF of the Z7 instructions. It is truly great to be a part of a community like this where people go out of their way to help each other out. It makes a huge difference for all of us.

I must say I am very disappointed in ZZP. Although I appreciate what they do engineering and manufacturing parts for our cars, they could be way more successful if they offered better customer service. Perhaps they have enough business and they just don't care, that is how it comes across.

Anyway, thanks to you guys I will be tearing into my beloved GTP in the next few weeks with way more confidence (instructions) for the Z7 upgrade and will likely have more questions for those that have gone before me.
