Upgraded hood props for GTX hood??? Only able to use ONE

Okay so i got a Gtx hood installed recently but had to use the underhood brackets on the old hood to get the hood props to make the hood stay up. The problem is that there are two and i was only able to use one because of the placement where the hole on the inside right side of the hood is for the intake. My body guy was too afraid to drill it bigger and put the hood bracket in. I know it can prob be done but is there an upgraded hood prop i can use that has more power than the stock one? I am currently only using one on the left side and it isn't enough. My girlfriend has a 06 impala and it only uses one so i know it has to be possible. I just Don't want to play the guessing game. Thanks

no, the props that hold the hood. they are on each side of the hood by fenders. I think they are hydro and clip in. I am looking for a more powerful one than stock so i can get away with just using one on the left only

Yes , its called lift support on rockauto. I should of went there first.

Monroe PN 901356 10.28
AMS AUTO PN 4295 12.36
AC Delco PN 510374 20.79

Which one is best? Im guessing the more expensive one?

According to my research i can get by with an 06 impala hood lift rod support.

Grand prix specs are
Extended length 21.74 inches
pounds of force 99
shaft diameter 6mm
body diameter 15mm

Impala specs are
Extended length 21.12 inches
pounds of force 112
shaft diameter 8mm
body diameter 18mm

They are both 8mm ball socket connection.

I really see no problem in going to this other rod if it fits. It might only open .5 inches lower than stock but the impala single rod opens up my girlfriends hood just fine and it only uses one and the hood is metal. Mine is fiberglass. There is a chance that maybe all i need is a new hood prop that has all the juice in it to handle it .

My Grand Prix only has/had one rod from the factory. I pulled it off because it bowed the Inferno hood slightly with it closed.

I don't know how heavy the stock 97-03 hood is, but I would bet you the Inferno hood is just as heavy, if not heavier than the factory metal hood.

You think i could get the same rod as a 04 plus? I'm thinking of just getting a new lift support and try using one instead of two. I think a new one even though it requires two, might be just enough to keep it up
