Unresponsive Steering fix?

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone had a fix for the unresponsive steering in the 97-03 GP (the steering lag) A performance car should turn the way you point the steering wheel, but the GP in particular doesn't do that. There are vans more responsive than this, I've driven a loaded 3700+ lbs Lacrosse that reponds better than this. I've been talking to a guy who has a full suspension work GP and it's the same on his too (he has Control arms, trailing arms, lateral links, and all the big parts like sway bars and springs and struts). Anyone have a fix for it? My GTP is my daily driver so I'm trying to make it like a light-track car as well with less emphasis on power mods and heavy suspension and tire mods, make it fun, different and not unreliable. Responsiveness would be very useful to the car when I go to the track once in a while.

Rack and pinion...... They suck to replace too. A wbody will never turn and handle like a Miata..... lets be honest here.

But I'm making a track-ready GTP tho :( and there's been cases of well handling GTs! :O , my next car's about 5 years away after I pay off my GTP in full (probably be a 1st gen CTS-V) and until then I gotta make the best with this

Hopefully you have already done the obivious and did a full inspection of your front end. Like checking tie rods, bearings, bushings etc etc for play or just plain ole worn out.

In addition to what has already been posted as obvious checks to make (suspension & steering components)

Tires can be a world of difference too... Some respond instant and direct while others are sloppy.
just sayin...

Well the springs are worn, the tires aren't new and they're 225 Eagle LS tires on stock rims... I probably need new bushings, i hear squeaking coming from the (base) rear sway bar... All of those are getting replaced and upgraded next spring but my question was there's a track-ready GT build and I've been talking to him on his set up, he has just as much as you can have in any GP and his car is still not as responsive as say a Mercury Milan... o.o
