Unpowered seats to powered seats? A possibility?

Hey everybody,

I'm new to this forum, but I've got a pressing question I'd like answered.

I recently purchased a 2004 Grand Prix GT without powered seats. All the other Grand Prix I have driven had powered seats so I simply expected this one to be the same, but it's not. I'm a pretty tall guy (6'3'') and after driving it for a couple weeks I've run into a problem. Without the powered seats, I can't lower the seat to a comfortable position. Right now, my head/hair brushes against the ceiling of the car when I sit in the position I would prefer. To compensate for this I have to scoot the seat forward more than I would like and tip it back more than I would like. This particular Grand Prix also has a sun/moon roof which seems to make the internal ceiling liner even lower. I'm sure if I had a power seat I could simply lower the entire seat to solve the situation.

So, my question is this...

Can you install a power seat in an 04 Grand Prix that has stock un-powered driver's seat?

Do all trim levels of the Grand Prix have the electrical wiring and harnesses available to switch over to a powered seat?

If the answer is yes to either of these questions, where would you go from here? Would it be at all practical to install a different seat? Roughly what do you think it would cost?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Typically the wiring would be there for the power seats. Easy way to check is to get down there and look. If you don't see a connector poking through the carpet, pull the seat and check.

i would assume there would be a harness there, i would check as stated above...stupid 04+ GPs with no room inside:th_shakinghead2:
