Tune out the o2 code

Is there a certain cutoff in the years that you can no longer just tune out the code? This is what I had someone tell me the other day. I have a catless DP that I want to put in, and if I don't have to buy an o2 simulator then I am not going to. The car is a 2002 regal.

Ok, but the question is> could it be tuned out in 2002? Someone told me that the code could be tuned out from 97-01, but not in 2002+.

reptile just tuned my pcm and stated in my 2002 u can not delete it all together but it can be set to no report... deleting it will cause car to run super rich.

Ok. So setting it to no report means no thrown code? or is there a code, but no light? I do not want to have any codes in this car. No light, no code = great success!

code will still be stored in PCM but SES light will be off.

When this code is in the PCM does it tell the car to run richer or leaner, or different in any way?

from what i know if u delete the code out of PCM it will run rich as ****.... set to no report is what ya wanna do. or get a o2 simulator.

this made me lmao... pm from reptile about the code being deleted. ........"No prob, although I need to clarify one thing with you....I will set the code to non report, but not delete it for the reason that the 02's have issues with going stupid rich on a cat diagnostic test...so you'll at least need to put your rear O2 back in so it can read it....if not, this tune will suck your gas down quicker than a truck stop whore on nickle night.

There is a cat diagnostic test that occurs on 01+ cars when you delete the rear 02. It does not run the test all the time, but you will see your fuel trims fluctuate at times or sometimes a wierd idle. To delete this, you need access to a few more tables that neither dhp or hptuners have. Tiny tuner is about the only program that has the ability to delete these tests out. So you need to have it deleted via tiny tuner or run a emulator. If you want to keep the sensor plugged in but deleted your cat, you need to install it so that it does not see free flowing exhaust or in the exhaust stream. It will throw a cat code if you do not.
