Trying to get the 90 Prix running... fuel pump questions

Well today i finally got to check the 90 Grand Prix with the 3.1 to figure out why the fuel pump isnt working or if it took a crap. Here is what i came up with... i tried out the test conn. wire (Red) put it on the positive post and got sparks but did not hear the fuel pump come on. I tried it with the ignition off and on and still nothing. Which leads me to my question the weather pack for the fuel pump (Driver side of the gas tank) has 4 wires, a grey, black, purple and looks like a black with grey stripe? Which one is positive and negative? i am guessing the black is negative? The reason i am wanting to know is i want to manually test it before i go out and buy a new fuel pump and then have to drop the gas tank to put it in. Any suggestions or advice is greatly appreciated! All i need is to get this problem solved and it will move under its own power for the first time in over 4 years! and i can finally start the long overhaul process with some goodies of course :D

jump terminals 30 and 87 of the fuel pump relay in the fuse block. usually if you key on and don't hear the fuel pump prime, the pump is dead. kick the gas tank a couple times. if it starts, you have a weak pump.

and did i mention jump the terminals?

Well the fuel pump is defiantly dead... As soon as i get the $ to buy a new one ill be able to drop the tank and put it in.

damn. well at least you figured it out. have you looked in the trunk for a spot where you can get it from the top? i think the later w-bodys and n-body's got one, it's worth a look

There is indeed a opening on the drivers side underneath the carpet towards the seats. I just pulled the fuel tank today and pulled the pump from it. Tommorow i am going to manually jump the pump just for crap and giggles but i figured the age of the car and it sitting for 4 + years i might as well spend the $80 and put a new one in even if it magically works :th_laugh-lol3: I appreciate the help Poil.

Well my boss had a new fuel pump laying around so he gave it to me. It fits fine but there is one other bit on it that the old one dos not. Can i just put a cap on it? what is it anyways? First pic is the new fuel pump and you can see the brass fitting on top and the second one is the original fuel pump with no brass fitting on top.
