Trying to decide on a cam for my build

99prixgt

club of used to own a gp
Im going to order a top swap from ed morad for xmas. I need some input on a cam to go with my build. Ive been reading alot about rockers vs cam, i want to eventually get my car into the low 12 range so i figure it would be eaiser to throw in a cam. I was thinkning XP cam because for now i would have stock L67 heads, i dont want to get beffier heads just yet and i dont plan on running n20. Let me know what you guys think about these mods and what type of cam you think would go best.

P.S- I dont want to buy a tuner, and im getting it dynoed in spring possibly summer when its warmer out, should i just have someone flash my PCM for the top swap? only reason why i ask is because im kinda scared on trusting an over the shelf tune with more heavy mods

I have
-SLP exaust, down-pipe w/ u-bend delete, and wizard

Xmas list
-top swap from ed morad, ported LIM, some type of cam, S&S headers

Spring mods
-zzp ssic, Ported inlet & outlet M90, N* throttle body, dyno tune from INTENSE

you really shouldnt be looking into a cam without having a tuner or someone who can tune it frequently. that's getting pretty deep.

i heard an s1x is a better cam for the street than the xp. not that it's tamer, but a different powerband.

INTENSE Stage 1X Blower: 210/221 .321/.329 115 111
ZZP XP: 212/224 .325/.335 116 N/A

These cams are nearly the same i would not say one is better on the street than another...without a tuner they will both make life hard for you.

ive heard the s1x makes alot more usable power (midrange) but if your looking for all out power, xp. but your problew gonna need to rev it to 6500.

and yea i would say a tunner is a MUST with a cam. thats why i finally decided on rockers :/

The S1X and XP are almost identical, but the XP has a little bit more top end. I've heard that an S1X is better than an XP if you have stock GTP gearing, but I don't know which one would be better for the gearing in a GT.

Oh and if you plan on low 12's don't bother with an SSIC, go fullsize or nothing.
