Trunk Lift Support Mismatched on my CAR???

So i bought 1999 GP GTP a few years back and recently decided to switch out my trunk lift supports. Being a 99 i ordered Monroe trunk struts for the appropriate year part #901391. When i got the parts they wouldn't fit! The old parts are Stabilus part #10414234 and are 11" even while my new Monroe struts are 11.5". I called Monroe about the problem and they told me the Stabilus number i gave them pulled up a GM part and that it was for a newer Grand Prix not a 99. Anyone know what's going on here? I tried looking at trunks struts for both newer and older models and all appeared to be 11.5" which wont fit my car. Anyone know appropriate trunk struts for a Grand Prix that are 11" in length?

Also, what's the difference between a first design and a second design spoiler? Apparently they have different struts for different spoiled designs.
 
Well, i fixed the problem by just going and buying new ones at Advanced and i bought them for a 1999 and they were 11". Not sure why the ones from Monroe were 11.5" though. Time to make some returns.
